CURRENT LAW

Summary:

This law is a Licensure Without Exclusive Scope of Practice. This law is a Certification/Title Protection law. This law certifies dietitians and nutritionists and there is a non-RD pathway to licensure. Certification gives you the right to use the titles: Connecticut Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist", "Connecticut Certified Dietitian", "Connecticut Certified Nutritionist", or the letters "C.D.-N.", "C.D.", "C.N." or any other letters, words or insignia indicating or implying that you are a certified dietitian-nutritionist in this state. However, there is no certification requirement for providing nutrition care.  Although there are no practicing restrictions in this state, it is highy likely that only those individuals who qualify for certification are eligible for insurance reimbursement when their is inurance coverage available for nutrition services.

Individuals who are certified as a registered dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration are considered to have meet all three requirements for state certification.
